Shiseido- Ibuki Quick Fix Mist Review

HOLY GRAIL product alert!

My last blog post was on the Saje Wellness mists, so I think it’s safe to say I have decided to venture into the world of mists (as I had not really done this previously) and I have to say I have definitely been missing out up until now.  I have another favourite mist, the Ibuki Quick Fix Mist by Shiseido.  This is one of my favourite products of all time.  If you have an oily t-zone like me, or just an oily complexion in general, you will LOVE this.

When I am working Monday-Friday all day, my skin gets oily fast, especially because I have had my makeup on since 7 a.m. and I have been running around all day.  Who wants to show up with oily skin to an important event, meeting with a client or even just around the office? NOT ME.  I have tried many different things to help with the oily t-zone problem, but nothing really seemed to work all that well.  The best solution I had found up until this Shiseido product, are the oil blotting films from Sephora.  Now that I use the Ibuki Quick Fix Mist, I don’t know what I would do without it.  I was lucky to receive this product from the Dave Lackie Shiseido event a little over a month ago, but I will be purchasing this again and again.

The Quick Fix Mist retails for C$25.00-C$32.00 (depending on where you purchase it from) and comes packaged in a bottle with a rounded side and one side that is completely flat.  Packaging wise, this makes for a great fit in your purse, laptop bag, coat or even your pocket.  The flat side makes it easy to slide in anywhere and take it with you when you are on the go.  At the event we were told the flat side was also designed with cell phones in mind.  This means it hugs your phone making transportation easy.

Now let’s get down to the product itself.  The smell is wonderful!!  I am a huge lavender fan and to me the scent reminds me of this, but it is not overpowering, and it does not linger on your skin after you spray it.  The scent is also very uplifting.

The consistency of the product is a gel inside of the packaging, but it comes out as a mist when you spray it.  It is very refreshing on the skin, especially when you spray it on throughout the day, it makes me feel as though I am starting over with a fresh face from 7 a.m. that morning.  It is designed to help correct shine and dehydration by revealing smoother, moisturized and fresher-looking skin over time as you use it.  Here is a short clip I made where you can see how light the mist is when sprayed:

The Ibuki Quick Fix Mist can be sprayed over makeup.  I close my eyes and spray it on in the morning after I apply my makeup, and it helps to keep my t-zone looking fresh as this is where my skin gets most oily.  On a side note, I do not wear foundation so I am not sure how it does with that, but I do wear blush, bronzer and eye makeup, and the product has helped to keep my makeup looking fresh throughout the day and really minimizes the creasing effect.

This is an essential I pack in my bag every morning before I head out.  I usually spray it 3 times a day depending on what I am doing.  Once in the morning after makeup application, lunch time and in the evening if I have a meeting, event or outing to go to.  When I spray it, I use 3 pumps, for the centre, left and right side of my face, this is how they demonstrated the product at Dave Lackie’s event, and I find it is the most effective way of doing it.  There is no mess, no residue and it dries very quickly once you spray it.  The Ibuki Quick Fix Mist in conjunction with my Sephora blotting films have made my skin a lot less oily, and they have become part of my daily routine and I am so pleased with the results!

Following in the footsteps of my last post, I have 2 more Saje products that I am absolutely loving.

I can’t get enough of the Saje Namaste and Yoga mists.  My favourite thing is that they are mists for opposite purposes.

Namaste is an uplifting mist.  It comes in a 50ml glass bottle and it retails for C$9.95.  You spray it over your face while inhaling and it elevates your mood.

Some of my favourite ingredients found in this are lavender and orange essential oil.  Some other ingredients include patchouli, rose otto and champa.  I like to use this mist as part of my daily routine in the morning after my shower.

Yoga is a calming mist.  It comes in a 100ml glass bottle and it retails for C$19.95.  You spray this over your face, neck and chest while inhaling and it has a grounding effect.

Some of my favourite ingredients found in this are orange and cedarwood essential oil. Other ingredients include patchouli, rosewood, cardamon, champa and bergamot.  Yoga is meant to be used after a yoga session.  Seeing as these essential oils put you in a calmed state, I like to use this mist as part of my daily routine before or after yoga and meditation.  I also like to use it before I go to sleep, it really helps to achieve a peaceful bliss, which makes it great to use before bed.

So if you are in the market for something natural or you love essential oils, I highly recommend both of these mists.  They both smell so wonderful, and make a quick and easy, as well as effective addition to your daily rituals.

I would also like to say a big THANK YOU to Marilou Moles (www.twentyyork.com) or @20YS on Twitter, for giving me some Saje coupons for 50% off a product, to use at the new Westboro location in Ottawa.  If you are in the Ottawa area I suggest popping in there.  The staff were great and the location of the store makes it very home like.  Because it is a stand-alone store and not in a shopping mall it makes the experience a lot different.  This is my favourite Saje location!

Saje- Eater’s Digest Tea Review

If you know me you know that I LOVE tea!  You would also know that for the last year my stomach has not been the same as it used to be.  But this post is for those of you who don’t know me, because if you did, you would also know I have found a tea that has helped a lot with my “stomach issues”- Saje Eater’s Digest Tea.

Kat Von D- Shade + Light Eye Contour Palette Review

I am so excited to be writing this review on the Shade + Light Eye Contour Palette by Kat Von D.  This palette was created with Kat’s profession in mind, the packaging states “An expert sketch artist, Kat uses shadow and light to create dimension in her extraordinary portraits” following this with saying that this palette can be used to “create your ideal eye shape- for the ultimate definition, lift, or balance.”  I apologize if some of the photos show some wear and tear on the palette, but I have been using it daily since the day I purchased it 5 months ago.
