Last week I talked about the Philosophy Purity Pore Extractor Mask and how it has really helped diminish the appearance of my blackheads. This week I’m reviewing the Purity Moisturizer as well because yeah the line is that good!
With the change in season fast approaching I know I want to keep that summer glow and have lovely hydrated skin. When the weather gets colder, a lot of us dread the dull/dry skin days ahead. But what if I told you keeping your summer glow can be quite easy this year? I’ve recently discovered Oro De Cacay facial oil by MAMO Botanics and I am loving the results! I want to thank MAMO Botanics for sending me this product as it is truly great.
Today i’m talking vanilla- my favourite scent! Ever since I have been old enough to wear fragrance or moisturizers/body butters with scent, I ALWAYS go for vanilla (okay, or coconut too). One of the very first stores I would shop for these products at was The Body Shop, and to this day I still use a lot of their products and they are staples in my collection/routine. One of my all time favourites is the Vanilla Eau De Toilette spray.
I used to always use the vanilla oil, but unfortunately it was discontinued. However, this eau de toilette spray is quite good as well. The vanilla scent is almost identical to the oil they used to make, however, the only downfall is that the eau de toilette doesn’t last as long as the oil did. Tip: To get this to last a little longer, I apply it right away after I take a shower on my pulse points.
What I love most about this product is how light and fresh it is. It’s not heavy and it isn’t overly powerful. I personally don’t like fragrances that are really strong and overbearing on the senses, I prefer more “natural” scents. It is very sweet and is hands down one of my favourite vanilla scents. The Vanilla Eau De Toilette retails for C$16.00 in stores, and they also sell a Vanilla Body Spray Mist which you can see here. I have used other brands vanilla products, but nothing has measured up to my all-time favourite from The Body Shop. I am also keeping my fingers crossed that they bring back the oil version!
Have you tried any Vanilla products from The Body Shop?
Continuing on with my Winter skin-saver favourites, today I’m reviewing one of my holy-grail products by Lush Cosmetics. I love Lush, I use a lot of their products from head to toe!
Their Bubblegum Lip Scrub is fantastic. It is my favourite lip scrub I have ever used. Winter weather leaves our lips chapped because of the constant change in temperature from hot to cold, interior to exterior, which takes the moisture out of our skin. Chapped lips is one of the most uncomfortable things, as well as it really ruins my lip look when using lipstick or liner, and that just doesn’t fly with me.
So I did some research on lip scrubs a few years ago and tried out a few different ones, and Lush’s Bubblegum Lip Scrub has been my favourite ever since. You can also purchase the scrub in other flavours:
This scrub is formulated with safe synthetics and natural ingredients:
Lush also classifies this product as Vegan.
I like to use this after my shower but you can use this anytime. The castor sugar gently exfoliates your lips, and the jojoba oil adds moisture back into the lips. When I am done using it my lips feel so soft and smooth. When I purchased this at Lush for C$12.00 the girl working told me that you can lick off the excess scrub and it tastes really good. She definitely is right the scrub tastes amazing, and usually I am not a huge fan of the bubblegum flavour, but I do really like this one. However, I don’t tend to lick off the excess scrub because to me it feels like I am then swallowing the dead skin I just exfoliated off haha but to each his own!
You can see here how the product looks up close, it really makes me feel like I am going to be moisturizing my lips every time I take the product out of the pot because it doesn’t look dry at all. I also love the vibrant pink shade.
One of my other favourite things about Lush products is that you get the date is was made as well as the expiry date on the sticker, usually found on the bottom of the product. It’s also cute how the sticker has who made that specific batch- makes me laugh every time.
The only thing I recommend when using this is to make sure you wash your hands beforehand. If you don’t you could be putting bacteria into the pot if you remove it with your finger with unwashed hands. You can also buy little spatulas or disposable beauty tools at your local beauty supplier to get the product out. This would be the only thing I don’t like about the product because this method is less hygienic compared to other lip scrubs that come in tube or solid lipstick-like form. But I just make sure my hands are washed and clean before taking the product out.
I use this year-round and I am so happy with how well it works!
Have you tried any of the Lush lip scrubs, or any other of their lip products?
Continuing with the Winter skin-savers, today’s post is all about oil for skin moisturizing. Eden’s Semilla have sent me their Vitamin E oil and Jojoba oil, and both are fantastic! If you have not tried moisturizing your skin with oil, I highly recommend you start- you can thank me later 😉
I have used many oils as part of my skincare routine, I use them on my face as well as my body. I have tried various different brands oils, and I can assure you that Eden’s Semilla is top of the line. Both the Vitamin E and Jojoba oil are so moisturizing on the skin, they really give you the conditioned skin texture and look we are all after.
Vitamin E oil
This is a special kind of Vitamin E oil, because it is a blend of Organic Rosehip and Jojoba. I really liked using this all over my body and my nails. Using this on my nails really helped to condition my cuticles.
The packaging reads “Topical Vitamin E contains excellent healing properties for damaged or tired looking skin. A rich blend of organic Jojoba and Rosehip delivers a natural carrier oil that is easily absorbed, fast acting and full of natural goodness. Hydrates and nourishes all in one.”
All of these ingredients work wonders on the skin. I even noticed a difference in a small scar I have. Using this oil on it helped to take down the redness and puffiness by conditioning it. Rosehip and Jojoba are both great oils for diminishing the appearance of scars, I have used Rosehip seed oil on its own before, and it really does make a difference.
Benefits listed on the packaging:
The Jojoba oil contains Vitamin C and fatty acids for skin defence.
The packaging reads “Closely resembling a sebum, a substance naturally produced by skin glands to promote a softer, more radiant complexion. Contains Vitamin C and essential fatty acids for all round skin defence. A natural conditioner that leaves hair silky smooth- lasting protection for the skin and scalp.”
Jojoba oil is great because it mimics the natural oil your body produces, that is why it is so effective when used on the skin. It is known to improve dryness and skin texture. I applied this on my body and feet. After doing a foot soak with some epsom salts and lavender essential oil, I applied the Jojoba oil to my feet, and it helped a lot with any dryness I had.
Benefits listed on packaging:
Both oils are 100% natural, and extremely conditioning for the skin, but on top of this they are also fast-absorbing and non-greasy. This is a HUGE plus in my books. Personally, I don’t like it when my skin feels greasy, or like there is residue on it after using a product- especially oils (even though this can be hard to avoid.) Eden’s Semilla oils absorb so well into the skin, and you can barely feel any residue leftover.
Both oils are beneficial for:
After using these oils for about two weeks, I notice a difference in the overall consistency of my skin. By this I mean normally in Winter I have to moisturize my body every single day to avoid getting dry skin, and by the next day I notice my skin already feeling tight and needing to be moisturized again. Yet since I have been using the Eden’s Semilla oils, my skin still feels conditioned by the next day when I go to moisturize again. I really like the texture of these oils as well, they are both not too thick and not too thin. They are very easy to spread on the skin- a little goes a long way, and scent wise they are both very light.
Tip: I like to use these together as well! If you are pressed for time, or you don’t want to wait for the oil to absorb, I suggest mixing this with body moisturizer. I put some drops of each in the palm of my hand and mix it with my favourite body moisturizer. This way it spreads on evenly, and you don’t have to wait as long to get dressed.
In terms of product, Eden’s Semilla offer natural oils, essential oils and facial serums. You can shop their products by clicking here. The Vitamin E oil retails for $18.95 for 60ml and $28.95 for 120ml. The Jojoba oil retails for $19.95 for 60ml and $24.95 for 120ml. Both oils also come with a dropper that conveniently fits on the bottle.

Thank you again to Eden’s Semilla for sending me both of these oils! xo
Happy Saturday everyone! In one of my recent posts I mentioned sharing some products I like to use to get soft and hydrated skin during the Winter. Today, I have another great product to share with you.
Raspberrymint, a Canadian brand based in London, ON, manufacture chic, cruelty-free natural products. I was fortunate enough to be sent one of their products, and I can’t get enough of it! I also spoke to the creator of the brand, Cherish, and she has offered a special surprise to those of you who read my blog. Read till the end of this post to find out what it is.
Raspberrymint sent me their Dry Heels, Dry Feet product. This is an argan based feet and heel moisturizer. This is the best thing I have used to date for feet! I really like to do foot soaks with epsom salts and lavender essential oil, and finding something convenient to use was on my list. As much as I love to do the foot soak’s, sometimes it is hard to find the time. What is so great about this product, is you can surely use it after doing a foot soak and exfoliating, or you can use it overnight on its own like the directions state.
The bottle label reads “Use as an overnight treatment to nourish cracked heels by working a good amount into your feet and toes. Cover with socks and wake up to moisturized feet.” I can’t begin to tell you how much I love the convenience factor, but also how AMAZING the product is. It works so well, I couldn’t get over it. I use it overnight, and after just the first use I was so happy with how well the product performs.
I love all of the ingredients in this product. These are things I use on the daily in other products I have, or just on their own. It also has a raspberry scent, it’s so nice!
Looking at this ingredient list really makes you think about other products you use. The Raspberrymint product has under 5 ingredients, you can pronounce every single one, and it is the best product I have used for moisturized feet. Compared to other brands who have 10-20 ingredients, with names you cannot pronounce, as well as chemicals, and performance wise it does not measure up to the natural product Raspberrymint offers.
You can also find an ingredients tab on their website, with a description of what some of their main ingredients do and why they use them. I love how transparent the company is, and what they stand for.
Click here to read up on some of the ingredients used in their products on their website.
I give this product a 10 out of 10! I highly recommend you check out their website, you can view their products by clicking here. Products range from accessories, aromatherapy, body care, lips & face and more. The Dry Heels, Dry Feet moisturizer retails for C$36.oo, you can view it here.

Here in Canada, we are getting into our colder winter months. Those of you who are in this with me know how awful winter can be on your skin. So my next few posts will focus on some wonderful products you can use to keep that soft and hydrated skin throughout these winter months.
To start things off I have an awesome sugar scrub by IQ Natural & Organics!
Between the cold weather and heating it’s tough to catch a break. But fear not my lovelies- there is something you can do!
I am avid on using moisturizer. I moisturize my face and body every single day. Even if you do this, you can STILL get dry skin, and it’s so frustrating. One of my solutions to getting rid of dead skin are scrubs. It’s amazing how well they work.
IQ Natural & Organics sent me their Coconut Brown Sugar Scrub and I’m in love. First of all, the smell is AMAZING. I have used other scrubs before, but this is by far the one with the best scent in my opinion. IQ Natural & Organics products are made in Gladstone, Oregon, USA and they are handcrafted!
Texture wise, it is like any scrub and once it gets wet it dissolves quickly. The texture reminds me of sand. Very fine particles.
Here are some photos for a closer look:
The Coconut Brown Sugar Scrub label reads: “With all natural organic coconut, honey, argan oil, vitamin E & hypoallergenic. Powerful 10% alpha hydroxyl acid stimulates new collagen and elastin production. Exfoliate away dead skin and reveal smooth & refreshed skin.”
Ingredients listed are: organic white sugar, olive oil, argan oil, 10% glycotic acid, essential oils, herbs and honey.
The product is:
I used this in the shower and my skin was so soft, and even softer after I moisturized. It leaves your skin feeling so nice, but not tight or any residue- YAY. The coconut oil in it is moisturizing so it didn’t leave my skin feeling dry.
Two suggestions I have to get the best results from the product:
1. Make sure to really give yourself a good rinse off in the shower before you get out. That way you avoid having a residue feeling (if it were possible to get), or some of the tiny particles left on the skin.
2. Make sure to let the water rinse out the base of your shower or tub. Once you rinse this off of your skin it accumulates in the base of the tub. Seeing as the colour of this scrub is brown you can really see where it accumulates, I found it took a bit of extra rinsing to get it to melt and go down the drain.
I am so in love with the scent of this product, and how exfoliated my skin feels after! This will be one of my best-friends this Winter season.

What is your favourite scrub? Have you tried IQ Natural & Organics products?
Looking for a new eyeshadow or lipstick? Maison Jacynthe is the answer! If you know me, you know I am all about eyeshadow. I wear it every time I do my makeup, and I’m always looking for new colours to pair together and different finishes. Maison Jacynthe sent me two eyeshadows and a lipstick to review, and I have found 3 new pieces to add to my “staples” collection.
Maison Jacynthe is a Canadian brand, products are made in Québec- YAY! I love this quote from their brochure “Our 100% natural and active products are real food for the skin.” You can use their products with confidence, knowing you are treating your skin to natural ingredients, not chemicals.
What you WON’T find in Maison Jacynthe products:
Maison Jacynthe’s active ingredients and fragrances come from plants and flowers. I absolutely love this!
Here are some shots of the individual products I received:
Eyeshadow- 02 Crema:
Here is a closer look:
Crema is a beautiful shade. I would say it is a bit of a cross between a frost and a lustre finish. I use it as a highlight on the inner corner of the eyes, brow bone, or the entire mobile lid. It is very rare for me to use a frost or lustre finish eyeshadow on my mobile lid, I love matte shades. I usually only use the frost or lustre as a highlight shade on the eye.
Due to the fact that I have hooded lids, putting a finish like this all over the mobile lid or crease, usually ends up resulting in my eyes looking even more hooded. When you apply these finishes to a hooded eye it captures the light (which brings things forward) and emphasizes the hood on the eye, making it look more severe than it actually is. However, with this Maison Jacynthe eyeshadow I do not have this problem. I actually love it all over the mobile lid, it is soft enough to not make the hooded lid stand out. So to all my fellow hooded-eye beauties who are looking to add some sparkle to their collection- this is a must if you normally tend to stay away from frost or lustre finishes for the same reasons I do- you will love this one!!
Eyeshadow- 09 Affogato:
Here is a closer look:
Affogato is AMAZING. I can remember when I was 18 and going to prom, my Mom did my makeup for me. She used this gorgeous purple/grey Revlon shade on my eyes and I was absolutely in love with it. When I went to repurchase it after I ran out of it, I was disappointed to discover they discontinued the shade. Affogato is almost exactly the same shade as that Revlon eyeshadow I was so sad to not be able to repurchase. Maison Jacynthe’s shade is a gorgeous charcoal grey with a slight purple undertone. If you have hazel eyes like me, or green eyes, it really makes them pop. I love to use this shade in the crease.
I love to pair both these eyeshadows together. Using Crema on my mobile lid, Affogato in the crease, and a bit of black eyeshadow on the outter V and lashline, and finish with some black mascara. Both eyeshadows retail for C$22.00 each.
Moving on to lips, Maison Jacynthe also sent me this gorgeous lipstick.
Lipstick- 08 Corail Transparent Mate:
Corail Transparent Mate is so pretty. It is matte, and goes on very easily- a little goes a long way. I really like it because it is a beautiful coral shade, however, it is almost a cross between coral and red, and so it pairs well with a lot of different eyeshadow colour looks. This lipstick goes on matte, but my favourite thing about it is that it is NOT drying. Often times matte lipsticks can leave your lips feeling dry, but Maison Jacynthe’s almost has a creamy texture to it, so it’s easy to work with. I also love the packaging of this product, how cute!! It retails for C$33.00.
Tip: When using a matte lipstick such as this one, I suggest making sure you exfoliate your lips before application. The only downfall to matte lipstick shades in my opinion is it really emphasizes dead skin if your lips are chapped. I use a lip exfoliator before applying this and it goes on really well.
Overall Maison Jacynthe has a phenomenal makeup line. I am so impressed at how pigmented the eyeshadows and lipstick are, a little of these products go a long way. For a brand that has no chemicals and is made with natural ingredients, the makeup measures up to other high-end brands products that I use. If you are looking for a birthday gift for someone, or still doing your holiday shopping, I strongly suggest checking out Maison Jacynthe!
Here are some swatches of all 3 products:

A few weeks ago, I posted on my social media accounts that I was sent Kismet Essentials’ product “Coco Rinse” and to watch for a review soon. A lot of you were intrigued by this product and the oil pulling method. First off, I would like to thank Kismet Essentials for sending me their product, I am so delighted!
Before I get into the review, here is a quick bio on Kismet Essentials. They are a company based in Vancouver, BC (Yay for a Canadian brand) and they pride themselves on trying their best to use natural based products in their own lives, so they wanted to bring those kind of products to their customers. Their goal is to provide customers with products that will help them enjoy a naturally healthy and beautiful life. All of their ingredients are organic, non-GMO, and ethically sourced from sustainable resources. They are proud to provide products that make their customers feel good about what they bring into their home and put in their bodies. Their products are good for you and our planet!
To be honest, the oil pulling method was something I had not tried, because I wasn’t really sure what it was all about, or how it could give you whiter teeth. So like most people, I stuck to whitening strips. Those of you who follow my blog know I love to use products like Coco Rinse that contain natural ingredients that benefit your body, skin and overall health. I strongly believe in feeling beautiful inside as well as out, and Kismet Essentials believes in that philosophy too. After doing some research on the oil pulling method, and Coco Rinse specifically, I was super excited to test this out.
In case you don’t know what the oil pulling method is, here is a description from their website: “Oil pulling is our favorite natural way to get whiter teeth and fresh breath! If you’ve never heard of it, oil pulling is an ancient Ayurvedic dental practice, also known as “kavala” or “gundusha”. It involves swishing a tablespoon of coconut oil daily in your mouth for 10-20 minutes to draw and pull our the toxins in your body.”
For additional information, check out this article on oil pulling by Helen Sanders at Health Ambition. This article gives you detailed information on what oil pulling is, the different types of oils that can be used and the benefits of using this method. Click here to read!
Kismet Essentials also lists some benefits of oil pulling on their website:
The Coco Rinse process is done over a 14 day period. One of the things I love most is how easy it is to use. You get 14 sachets in your kit, and you use 1 per day. Open the sachet and put the product in your mouth, then swish it around for 10 minutes (or up to 20). Yes- it’s seriously that easy.
Another thing I found awesome is how there is no mess. When I have used whitening strips in the past, I would get it on my fingers and lips. Because you have to peel the strips off and place them on your teeth, but none of this happens when using this product. Coco Rinse is also mint flavoured, so it tastes good! It’s basically like using mouthwash, you swish it around and there is no mess.
After the 10 minutes are up, you simply spit it out. Do not swallow it, because it contains all of the toxins it has drawn out, so make sure to spit it out! Another thing I love is how it does not leave that grimy feeling of film residue on your teeth; my teeth actually feel cleaner after I use this product. I am SO impressed.
Click here for a quick how-to video.
If you have used whitening strips before, you have probably experienced the sensitivity and discomfort that comes along with using these. Coco Rinse gave me zero pain or sensitivity over the entire 14 day duration, including now that I am done using the kit.
After my 14 days of continued use I can see that my teeth are whiter. I am one to really take care of my teeth, I brush twice a day and floss once a day. When I was younger I had braces, so I now have a small wire on the back of some of my teeth to keep them straight. If you’ve had braces and now have these wires as well you know how annoying it is to floss with these. I do my best, but it is the only spot where I will get plaque buildup because it’s so hard to floss around the wires. Since using Coco Rinse I notice a BIG difference with my wires. Using this in conjunction with my flossing has removed basically ANY buildup I had accumulated since my last teeth cleaning, I cannot get over it!!
Overall I am really happy with the results! This product is a dream if you are someone like me who is obsessed with brushing and flossing haha and also because it is natural, whitens teeth and helps to keep plaque away which = cleaner smile = makes me super happy! You can purchase Coco Rinse here for C$29.99, or a monthly subscription for C$25.99. Shipping is $10.00 worldwide or FREE on orders above $50.00. Also if you click here and sign up using your e-mail address you can get 15% off your first purchase!
Side note: Kismet Essentials also has an AWESOME blog on their website. You can find lots of posts regarding coconut oil and its many benefits. There is a post on how to get longer eyelashes using coconut oil, just saying 😉 so yeah I will be trying this!!! You can view their blog by clicking here. HOLY GRAIL product alert!
My last blog post was on the Saje Wellness mists, so I think it’s safe to say I have decided to venture into the world of mists (as I had not really done this previously) and I have to say I have definitely been missing out up until now. I have another favourite mist, the Ibuki Quick Fix Mist by Shiseido. This is one of my favourite products of all time. If you have an oily t-zone like me, or just an oily complexion in general, you will LOVE this.
When I am working Monday-Friday all day, my skin gets oily fast, especially because I have had my makeup on since 7 a.m. and I have been running around all day. Who wants to show up with oily skin to an important event, meeting with a client or even just around the office? NOT ME. I have tried many different things to help with the oily t-zone problem, but nothing really seemed to work all that well. The best solution I had found up until this Shiseido product, are the oil blotting films from Sephora. Now that I use the Ibuki Quick Fix Mist, I don’t know what I would do without it. I was lucky to receive this product from the Dave Lackie Shiseido event a little over a month ago, but I will be purchasing this again and again.
The Quick Fix Mist retails for C$25.00-C$32.00 (depending on where you purchase it from) and comes packaged in a bottle with a rounded side and one side that is completely flat. Packaging wise, this makes for a great fit in your purse, laptop bag, coat or even your pocket. The flat side makes it easy to slide in anywhere and take it with you when you are on the go. At the event we were told the flat side was also designed with cell phones in mind. This means it hugs your phone making transportation easy.
Now let’s get down to the product itself. The smell is wonderful!! I am a huge lavender fan and to me the scent reminds me of this, but it is not overpowering, and it does not linger on your skin after you spray it. The scent is also very uplifting.
The consistency of the product is a gel inside of the packaging, but it comes out as a mist when you spray it. It is very refreshing on the skin, especially when you spray it on throughout the day, it makes me feel as though I am starting over with a fresh face from 7 a.m. that morning. It is designed to help correct shine and dehydration by revealing smoother, moisturized and fresher-looking skin over time as you use it. Here is a short clip I made where you can see how light the mist is when sprayed:
The Ibuki Quick Fix Mist can be sprayed over makeup. I close my eyes and spray it on in the morning after I apply my makeup, and it helps to keep my t-zone looking fresh as this is where my skin gets most oily. On a side note, I do not wear foundation so I am not sure how it does with that, but I do wear blush, bronzer and eye makeup, and the product has helped to keep my makeup looking fresh throughout the day and really minimizes the creasing effect.
This is an essential I pack in my bag every morning before I head out. I usually spray it 3 times a day depending on what I am doing. Once in the morning after makeup application, lunch time and in the evening if I have a meeting, event or outing to go to. When I spray it, I use 3 pumps, for the centre, left and right side of my face, this is how they demonstrated the product at Dave Lackie’s event, and I find it is the most effective way of doing it. There is no mess, no residue and it dries very quickly once you spray it. The Ibuki Quick Fix Mist in conjunction with my Sephora blotting films have made my skin a lot less oily, and they have become part of my daily routine and I am so pleased with the results!
